Alex Chilton was a far greater American rock 'n' roll songwriter, vocal & guitar talent than the rather overrated Tom Petty. Not to mention that his unhinged production talents propelled The Cramps into the spotlight. An antihero to be reckoned with and a master of many genres. But most record buyers have mediocre taste so of course he remained poor most of his life.
